Concerns for safety grow as city-wide gun violence escalated over the weekend.

“I thought gun crime was getting better – but maybe that's just because I live in Park Slope,” said central Park Slope resident Suzanne Voel. “But these days we don't know what to think, with stabbings, some guy on the loose...it's getting a little scary this year.”

The surge of gun violence has prompted Mayor Bloomberg to appeal to Washington for more aggressive gun laws.

For many, this comes as an unpleasant reminder that the city has a lot of work to do to improve New York gun laws.
