“The hospital – and, more importantly, the community – will benefit greatly from a new ambulatory care facility,” hospital CEO Mark Murphy wrote in an internal Methodist newsletter The News learned.

The newsletter said the number of Methodist patients has risen, with over 40,000 in-patient and 350,000 outpatients each year, creating the need for a facility expansion.

The proposed building is set to include a new surgery center, endoscopy suite, cancer center with chemotherapy and radiation oncology services and stand seven stories.

Construction is not expected to start for at least a year, but hospital officials will present the construction plans to Community Board 6 on July 11.
