Methodist Expansion Gets First Nod of Approval

Full Community Board will vote Wednesday on expansion plan's fate.

New York Methodist Hospital's expansion plans were evidently revised enough for the Community Board 6's Landmarks and Land-Use committee's approval.

After numerous revisions as Methodist was asked to scale back the expansion plan, the hospital took the first step it needed for approval Monday night. The board had previously voted no back in November.

Methodist still needs approval from the full Community Board in order to acquire the zoning variances it needs to create the Center for Community Health. The full Community Board will vote on Wednesday, and if they approve it, the city Board of Standards and Appeals still has the final say.
