Mayor de Blasio Shovels His Park Slope Sidewalk; Dante Joins Later

New mayor shovels his sidewalk the morning after Winter Storm Hercules.

Update: Dante de Blasio is in fact now in on the shoveling. Chirlane McCray tweeted a photo at 10:13 a.m. of Dante getting to work just a few hours after his father.

"Schools closed, shovels out," she Tweeted along with the photo.

It appears Dante was able to get a little extra sleep in, but not too much.

New Mayor Bill de Blasio is taking a hands-on approach to snow removal Friday morning.

He tweeted out the picture above of him shoveling his sidewalk with the caption, "The PlowNYC feature is activated at http://NYC.gov , posting real-time updates of snow clearance."

The picture has raised some questions, however, as many are asking, "where is Dante de Blasio?".

Thursday night, the mayor's wife Chirlane McCray was also active on social media. She proclaimed her son would be busy as she posted a picture of a large snow shovel and rock salt with the caption, "What Dante will be doing if he has no school tomorrow."

With all NYC schools closed it appears his parents have had a change of heart, at least for now. As the snow continues to fall early Friday morning, it's likely Dante will grab the shovel at some point today.
