OXHEART presents DANCETROPOLIS

Where/When: Brooklyn Lyceum, 227 4th Ave, Friday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Come to Brooklyn Lyceum for OXHEART presents DANCETROPOLIS. Oxheart is comprised of creative artists of all kinds, including musicians, photographers, writers, designers and visual artists. The collective’s sole philosophy is focused on all artists, providing them with an exciting opportunity to connect and gain exposure to new audiences. Come check out this great event.

Los Straitjackets

Where/When: The Bell House, 149 7th St, Friday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Between eccentric Mexican wrestling masks and energetic surf guitar twang, Los Straitjackets is sure to be an entertaining set. The band has been around for over two-decades and has only continued to improve their sound that originated in Nashville.

Coffee Bark

Where/When: Prospect Park, Prospect Park W & 9th St, Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 a.m.

Why Go: On the first Saturday of every month (excluding holidays), FIDO sponsors a dog-centered morning. Free goodies for dogs will be given out and off-leash activities will be led. Meet in the Meadow beside the Picnic House. The top dog from the King and Queen of Park Slope Dog Photo Contest will be announced and awarded its prizes by ProspectBArk.

Green Market Cooking Demo with Chef Jacques

Where/When: Grand Army Plaza GreenMarket, Grand Army Plaza, Saturday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m.

Why Go: Learn how to make the most of your fall harvest bounty! Chef Jacques Gautier of Palo Santo will be showing folks how to make a tasty seasonal dish at the Grand Army Plaza Green Market.

V Spot Comedy Show

Where/When: The V Spot, 156 5th Ave, Saturday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m.

Why Go: The V Spot's own Alex Carabano hosts this free monthly comedy show in the restaurant, featuring veteran comedians along with some of the best up and coming acts on the NYC comedy scene.

Colloquy: "Freedom"

Where/When: The Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture, 53 Prospect Park W, Sunday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m.

Why Go: Colloquy incorporates music, meditation, and quotes within the format of a sharing circle; it is an opportunity to engage in deep listening and to develop compassion and understanding. We hope to get to know each other and ourselves better and to create a safe space for us to share our life experiences.
