Why Go: This is a karaoke dance party for people who do not like karaoke. This weekly event is part singing and part dancing with some crowd surfing just for fun.

Why Go: Have you ever wanted to be a brewer of handcrafted beers? Then attend the multi-session beginners brewers workshop held by the masters, BrewHeister. Here you will learn how to cook up handcrafted beers, bottle them, and of course, drink them. If you start now your special brew can be ready for slug down by October 1.

Why Go: Every Saturday night, the Brooklyn Lyceum hosts Gentrify Brooklyn Comedy, an evening showcasing some of the city’s most talented improvisers, stand-ups, and sketch comedians. It’s side-splitting fun, but light on the wallet.

Sanctuary Still: Brooklyn Reflects on a Decade Since 9/11

Where/ When: St. Ann & The Holy Trinity Church, 157 Montague Street, Sunday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: Ten years ago, this Brooklyn Heights church became a safe haven for people to seek refuge after the attacks of 9/11. For the tenth anniversary of the tragic event, St. Ann & The Holy Trinity Church will honor those who were lost and those who dedicated their time and lives to help our great city become stronger after devastation. To honor the heroes the event Sanctuary Still, will give homage with performances by the St. Ann’s Choir, the String Orchestra of Brooklyn, Grace and Spiritus Chorale of Brooklyn, and readings by Brooklyn’s own authors, leaders and community members.
