Why Go: Enjoy and evening with Ed Stoute, piano, Bryce Sebastien, bass and George Gray, drums. Accomplished jazz pianist, Ed Stoute has been playing piano and creating music for over 50 years. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Ed Stoute is a brilliant composer of original music and distinctive arranger of standards. Ed’s repertoire ranges from traditional jazz (Bebop) to Brazilian.

Why Go: The annual Walk Against FDNY Cuts (WAFC) passes Brooklyn fire companies and fatal/arson fires that caused death, injury, destitution. Latinas Against FDNY Cuts/LAFC coalition volunteers and organizations include survivors, relatives and neighbors of fires, clergy, students, elected officials and labor and local organizations. LAFC reports on impacts of fire and fire safety cuts on minority populations, health, poverty, homelessness to City Council, Community Boards, organizations.

Why Go: Come celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a live Nortenas band

Why Go: DanceAfrica company Forces of Nature Dance Theater presents original work that blends contemporary dance, traditional West African dance, ballet, hip-hop and live music in conjunction with the Brooklyn Museum’s new installation, Connecting Cultures: A World in Brooklyn.

Where/When: 5th Ave & 4th St, Sunday at 11 a.m.

Why Go: Every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the good food farmers and artisanal producers of New York and New Jersey meet a stampede of shoppers at the Park Slope Farmers Market on Fifth Avenue at Fourth Street. Community Markets is celebrating their 20th year of dedication to making each of their markets a place for community members to come together, relax, be entertained and engaged with local food.

Cost: FREE!

Where/When: 500 25th St, Sunday at 1 p.m.

Why Go: Green-Wood’s superintendent of grounds and resident expert in all things green (and pink, yellow, white and purple), Art Presson will show you the extraordinary beauty of the spring blooms at Green-Wood. With over 8,000 trees across 478 acres, Green-Wood is an urban oasis.

Cost: $15 for members, $20 for nonmembers
