Where/When: The Observatory; Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Start your weekend right and check out The Secret History of the Ouija Board at the Observatory on Union Street. Mitch Horowitz, the author of "Occult America" and a veritable expert on all things weird, will offer some historical perspective on how the thing has become the most widely recognized occult object of all time

Where/ When: ; Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: If revisting a creepy teenage pasttime isn't your thing, check out Middle Eastern jazz ensemble Taksim at Zora Space. The group combines Middle Eastern and American rhythms for a sound that's fun and funky.

Where/When: Prospect Park; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Here's a reason to actually embrace all these mounds of snow littering the neighborhood: Winter Jam NYC. Head to Prospect Park on Saturday to ski, snowshoe, take snowboarding lessons or just horse around in all that fluffy white. Of course, there will be yummy treats to accompany the winter fun. Where/ When: The Brooklyn Musuem; Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Why Go: After you've had your fill of the winter wonderland over at Prospect Park, head to the Brooklyn Museum for Target First Saturdays. Get a peek at the museum after hours (it's open until 11 p.m.) and celebrate Black History Month, complete with The Fat Cat Big Band playing bebop and swing and a screening of "The Great Debaters."

5. The Super Bowl

Where/When: Bars all over Park Slope; Sunday, 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: Come Sunday, we're guessing most Slopers will be glued to the Super Bowl — whether by choice or by force. Check out our roundup of where to watch the game, including a few spots boasting non-sports related fun for those of us out there who aren't the world's largest football fans.

Cost: Most bars will offer great beer specials for the game.
