Food Co-op Sets the Mood for Love
The Park Slope Food Co-op hosted a singles mixer last Saturday.
Last weekend, unattached foodies and Vitamix enthusiasts gathered at the Park Slope Food Co-op last Saturday for a “singles mixer,” and one Observer reporter braved the scene to tell the tale.
The article says that the event was attended by “dozens” ranging in age from 20s to 60s. Everyone brought a dish to share, and while the parsnip bread pudding and spinach balls were a hit, one woman brought a bottle of wine and was shunned, according to the report.
As expected from a Brooklyn foodie gathering, there were some great quotes transcribed in the Observer piece, such as: “I don’t like to mix my starches with my proteins” and “My Vitamix changed my life.”

Patch wasn't able to reach the co-op for comment regarding the party.
According to a jokey post on Gothamist, the co-op was already the neighborhood’s one-stop-shop for Viagra, so maybe it’s not so far-fetched that members would meet their soulmate there. Just don’t get your hopes up that you’ll snag co-op members Adrian Grenier or Maggie Gyllenhaal.
