Five Things to Do This Week

Our picks for great events in the neighborhood.

Monday

It may be Monday, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay home. Come to Freddy's Bar for some live music in the backroom.

Tuesday

Want some theater tonight? Check out Untrained at Brooklyn Academy of Music. Choreographer Lucy Guerintakes the unpredictably of an untrained dancer and incorporates that originality and freedom into a dance. Two trained dancers partner with two untrained movers, allowing a unique conversation to take place on stage.

Wednesday

As the oldest holiday fundraising drive in the country, New York Methodist Hospital’s Red Stocking Soirée raises funds to help provide charity medical care for those who are uninsured or under-insured in the Brooklyn community.

Thursday

Nationally acclaimed authors Rick Moody and Darcey Steinke join Old First Reformed Church minister Daniel Meeter in a discussion of Progressive Christianity: both as a political force, and as a means of approaching the teachings of Christ with fresh eyes and freedom from traditional assumptions.

Friday

Get in some music this Friday at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and listen to Burning Gums. Burning Gums will perform with special guest Lucia Jackson and play songs from their first album as well as some exciting new material from their upcoming sophomore release.

Being that it is an election year, if you and other registered voters scream loudly enough, someoneRead More will hear you. This sounds like a job for the 7 On Your Side, or NY1 who may be able to reach NYCDOT and Higher Ranking officials at the 78th PCT to respond to your complaint and do something.
