Monday

Start the week off right with funky Latin jazz rhythms courtesy . The 16-piece chamber jazz orchestra, comprised of six horns, six strings and a four-piece rhythm section will be at the Tea Lounge tonight.

Tuesday

If you live in Park Slope, and haven't yet ventured to Barbes to check out , its about time. Head to the Ninth Street bar and venue to check out the weekly nine piece ensemble, which plays gyspy brass, Balkan ditties, and American music. Folks afraid of the dance floor should be wary: by the end of the night, everyone will be dancing.

Wednesday

Finally use all those inane facts you’ve accumulated over the years at The Fifth Estate’s . And if you’re not a trivia whiz, you can always console yourself over a beer.

Thursday

Celebrate Mom (albeit a little late) at this month’s edition of Brooklyn Reading Works: . Hear great writing about being a mom  by novelist Paola Corso, essayist Nancy McDermott, graphic novelist Jennifer Hayden, novelist Sophia Romero and many more.

Friday

Break out the flannel and head to the Bell House for : May Edition. Dance to 90s hits and reminisce on those simpler times before Facebook, emo music and the explosion of reality television.
