the lighting of Brooklyn's Largest Menorah
Brooklyn largest Menorah stands at a whopping 32 feet tall! This huge menorah has towered over Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn since 1984.
The annual Menorah lighting ceremony has become a yearly community tradition for the area's Jewish, as well as non-Jewish, residents.
With the assistance of a cherry picker lift generously provided by Con Edison, Rabbi Shimon Hecht, Director of Chabad in Brooklyn, and Rabbi of Congregation Bnai Jacob in Park Slope, lights the menorah each of the eight nights of the holiday. Various community leaders, philanthropists, and dignitaries are honored each night to join the Rabbi in lighting the Menorah.
