Cherry Blossoms Are Blooming at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden

A diverse crowd celebrated Japanese culture amid cherry blossoms at peak bloom at the Sakura Matsuri festival.

This weekend, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden hosts its premiere event – the annual .

The festival celebrates the blossoms in full bloom, as well as Japanese culture, from dance and to food, to music and fashion.

The festival also attracts lovers of Japanese pop culture, especially lovers of anime,  Japanese game characters, and Japanese street fashion called Lolitas.

The festival continues today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Events are free with garden admission: $15  for adults and $10 for senior citizens and students. Children under 12 and garden members are free. Members also get to bypass the admission line, which can be long.
