Brunching with Mom

Our picks for great brunch spots for Mother's Day.

Flowers are nice and all, but really, the best gift to give Mom on Mother’s Day is that of a fantastic meal (and quality time with the kids, of course).

Here are our picks for brunch spots that will make Mom feel super appreciated:

A meal at is truly something special – even more so when you’re sharing it with your mom. She’ll appreciate the attention to detail and focus on seasonal ingredients at this Union Street spot, as well as the airy and inviting space. And with a $14 brunch pre-fixe, you won’t break the bank treating Mom to something special!

Buttermilk Channel

Take Mom to on Lower Court Street if she likes a fine dining experience. Buttermilk Channel isn't over the top fancy, but the space feels formal and there are always flowers on the bar. The Eggs Benedict oozes with flavor and hollandaise, and the Buttermilk pancakes are light and fluffy – but still rich and thick – just how pancakes should be. When we brought our mom she asked for the recipe, and they gave it to her!

Lobo

Who can argue with Huevos Rancheros? , with locations on Court Street and on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope, has a great Mexican brunch, with options ranging from the classic, the aforementioned Huevos Racheros, to the more obscure. Migas, anyone? If you head to the Cobble Hill location, and it's nice outside, opt to sit in the backyard. Mexican food in the sun? Perfection!

Juventino

The casual, easy atmosphere of this neighborhood spot on Fifth Avenue is always charming. With light streaming in from the all-glass storefront and a great backyard, this is perfect for brunch. And everything on the brunch menu – from the bread board to truffled eggs and chilaquiles – is transcendent.

12th Street Bar & Grill

For the classic, white tablecloth experience in the Slope, head to 1. The atmosphere is bright and airy – the perfect sort of mood for a nice bite with Mom. And the food is always spot-on, especially for brunch. 12th Street knows eggs, so whether you order the eggs benedict or an omelet, it’s sure to be divine.

Prime Meats

If you like toast points, or boozy morning punch served in antique (or at least antique-looking) glass teacups, is your brunch spot. The food is divine at PM, and the ambiance classic. The waiters wear vests and dark jeans, always appearing dashing. Oh, and did we mention the thick cut bacon? It is not to be missed...
