Best Places to Sled in Park Slope

Where do you go sledding in Park Slope?

It's a rare occasion in Brooklyn, but kids get to enjoy a snow day Friday as all New York City Public Schools have closed for the day.

While many will be sleeping late and travel is still difficult in the early morning, many kids will want to hit the sleds sometime throughout the day. Please be aware, however, that officials have warned to limit time in the snow today due to the frigid temperatures.

Here are a few of the more popular spots to go sledding in Park Slope:

  • Near the Tennis House at Prospect Park West and 9th Street
  • In the meadow off Grand Army Plaza
  • Behind the Picnic House at the Third Street Entrance of Prospect Park
  • 'Breeze Hill' north of the Concert Grove past the Oriental Pavilion.
Gear to Go Outfitters at 217 Garfield Place told Patch they have plenty of sleds in stock as well as baselayers, hats, socks, yaktrax and microspikes, and waterproof gloves for kids.
