The BareBurger Reigns Supreme

During the snow storm on Saturday, a bison burger with onion rings hit the spot.

After being out in , dodging fallen branches and braving the cold, one needed a big, juicy burger delivered right to one’s door.

BareBurger, which opened in July, serves organic, free-range, grass-fed meats from a variety of animals: cow, chicken, turkey, lamb, elk, bison and ostrich. They also serve veggie burgers and portabella mushrooms.

The environmentally conscious, farm-fresh and sustainable-chic burger joint seems to always draw a crowd and usually has a 15-minute wait for a table.

But in the midst of the winter storm, the last thing a truly hungry man wanted to do was wait on the sidewalk while getting pounded by the snow. The only reasonable thing to do was to order delivery from a local-artisan-and-sustainable-farmer-friendly restaurant.

The BareBurger Supreme, with a six-ounce bison patty on a brioche bun, is one of the best burgers, out of 14 different options, they have. It comes with all-natural Colby Jack cheese, gourmet battered onion rings, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce and is smothered with their special sauce.

The burger is a large, juicy and delicious. Any burger is going to be greasy, but this one doesn’t have the fast food greasiness that burns shiny holes through your napkin. The Supreme has a rather wholesome faux-healthy grease that leaves you satisfied, not sick.

The bison has a slight gamey taste, but is rich in flavor and keeps you earning for another bite.

The applewood smoked bacon is thick, covers the whole burger (so each bite has a beautiful bacon flavor) and is cooked perfectly. It has a crunch, but is not burnt to a crisp.

The onion rings are massive and crunchy, have a fantastically thick batter and big onions that fill the inside. The onions are real, fresh and juicy. Every bite has the perfect amount of freshness, instead of a sliminess that some poor-quality rings have.

To wash it all down, a 12-ounce vanilla milk shake did the trick. The organic ice cream and milk made an intoxicating shake that is sweet, tasty and thick.

The best part of dinner was that it was a warm American meal devoured the American way: on the couch in front of the TV.
