5 Things to Do This Week: Roots & Ruckus, Jonathan Fritz and Holiday Party at Chance 11

Our agenda for your week.

Don't stay home this week when there is so much going on. Here are our picks for things to do:

Monday:

Make some child very happy this holiday season by donating plastic toys to Second Chance Toys. The organization is holding a toy drive for gently used plastic toys until Dec. 17, so Monday is the last day you can donate. Click here to find a drop-off location near you.

Tuesday:

Head to Freddy's Bar at 627 5th Ave. Go for the free live music that can be heard all night long but stay for the divey ambiance and full bar and menu.

Wednesday:

a night of folk, old-time and blues music. You will see and hear people playing banjos, guitars, washboards, tub-basses kazoos and harmonicas. The night is hosted by Feral Foster and features a stellar group of musicians. Plus, it's free!

Thursday:

Long-time Brooklyn resident and artist, Jonathan Fritz, has opened his art studio/gallery to the public in conjunction with Target First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum to present his unique pop art. Located a shop away from longtime friend Andy Heidel’s bar, The Way Station, the two plan on cross promoting art and music. This is also free.

Friday:

Round out the week at Chance 11, which is hosting its second annual 'Holiday Afterwork Party.' The lounge and restaurant is also holding a birthday celebration for all Sagitariuses born in the month of December. Admission is complimentary, but attendees must be 23 or over.
