"The Wind Rises"

There are signs that the eternal winter might be coming to an end. The perennials in my garden have emerged from the ice with little visible damage. There are actually buds on some of the trees. There's more light. Later and richer. I think its been the dark quality of this winters light that really got to me. The absence of color. The snow turned too quickly to that black, dirty, frozen stuff that city dwellers dread, full of frozen dog droppings and blue recycling bags that slowly reveal themselves as the temperatures moderate.Oh yeah. Lets not forget the slush dams that made each corner a serious challenge to cross. Gray. Dirty, grimy gray. We are all tired of it. Ive got an option. A two hour escape from the winter scarred cityscape. Go see "The Wind Rises". On a large screen, if possible. The colors will enchant you. The artwork, the story, music, its brilliant. It will transport you from pre spring NYC to pre WW2 Japan and give you a view into a world that few of us ever give much thought to. It's a masterpiece of storytelling, an artistic achievement of major proportion. It will carry you out of winter and into spring.
