FREE: The Ground Below Zero Launch Party 11/9

A Leftist and an artist walk into a bar- and what happens next will be extraordinary. On behalf of UpSet Press I am thrilled to announce the launch party of The Ground Below Zero, a brilliant and occasionally deeply wounding narrative of one man's journey around some of the world's most terrifying cities and some of the heart's most intimate warzones.

I would like to invite you, and your readers to:

THE GROUND BELOW ZERO Launch Party

The Ground Below Zero spans a decade of reportage from disaster zones, the shifting racial politics of post 9/11 New York, the wild festival Burning Man, the intimate battleground of family history to the protests against police killings of Black and Latino youth. A hybrid memoir, The Ground Below Zero, shifts forms from poetry to memoir to fiction, as it contends with some of our most burning existential questions.

Nicholas Powers is a poet, journalist and professor. His first book, Theater of War, was published by UpSet Press. He has written for The Indypendent, Alternet and The Village Voice. He teaches literature at SUNY Old Westbury and co-hosts the long running New York City College Poetry Slam at the Nuyorican Cafe.
