You Said It: The Prospect Park West Bike Lane
We hit the streets and asked residents what they think of the controversial bike lane.
At this point, it isn't news: the Prospect Park West bike lane may be the most controversial issue in the neighborhood at the moment.
So we decided to hit the streets and find out what people strolling (and biking) down the iconic boulevard had to say about the bike lanes.

It's great to hear that even people with a stance on the bike lane can admit that the other side of the argument has valid points. Apparently most people try rational thinking -- those who aren't radicals at the community board meetings.
And I like how the viewpoints here seem to be split by age.

You're right, Brian. The people in this picture look like your typical radicals: suits, ties, grey hair. Radicals, all of them. Those two seven-year-old girls who spoke were card carrying members of the Socialist Party, I hear. Brad Lander? Total commie.
This video shows an older woman at first saying she doesn't like the bike lane, but then saying that it makes her safer. Seems like she has a very nuanced position, more than Brian seems to have noticed. Even the guy who says the bike lane is "stupid" admits that the argument about crossing the street doesn't hold water and that it's perfectly safe.
It's convenient to stereotype, though.
