What happened this week on Park Slope Patch.

It was another big week of news in Park Slope. Here’s our roundup of the biggest (and most interesting) headlines in the neighborhood this week.

We started the week off with a great photo spread on the by Lilly Frances. The parade may have been a few days late (it was three days after the holiday itself) but it was a hoot, nonetheless.

Housing Works shared details on its , opening sometime in April. The store will debut a Housing Works first: kids clothing.

Authorities that it was indeed a police officer that caused the March 15th car crash on Fifth Avenue. The officer was arrested for driving under the influence and is awaiting trial.

On Wednesday, our Gowanus correspondent Miriam Coleman took a look at the in the neighborhood and beyond:

It turns out the green stuff was growing all over Brooklyn, including around the Gowanus Canal. Many residents had it in their yards, and didn't even know it.

We also had the scoop on , a new Austrian sausage/beer/schnapps spot coming soon to Fifth Avenue and 15th Street (and yes, the bar is named for the song by the prolific 80s Austrian pop-rocker, Falco.)

Thursday brought news of a on Prospect Park West.

The also celebrated a comeback in Prospect Park, with the donation of several blight-resistant chestnut seeds to Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Before a blight nearly wiped out the trees in the early 1900s, they were common throughout Brooklyn.
