PHOTOS: The Calm After the Storm

Prospect Park filled up Sunday morning with people looking to stretch their legs and put the frenzy of Hurricane Irene behind them.

Runners, dog walkers—and even a man on a unicycle—flocked to the park and were happy to be outside again as the worst of the storm is over.

"I saw a woman with her baby and I said, 'Well, there's a baby out, so we're okay," joked Prospect Heights resident Amy Roa, 29, while her dog, Freddy, played in one of the many pools water in the park.

Park Slope resident Andrea Yarrington, who was out on Fire Island before the storm and told she had to evacuate back to Brooklyn, said the newly formed pools and the dozens of people frolicking with their pets made that part of the park "the new dog run."

Yarrington said she the city was well prepared, but was not surprised by all the safety precautions, especially with the city's slow clean-up response following December's blizzard.

"[Mayor] Bloomberg got caught with his pants down before, so this time he wore suspenders and a belt," she said.

As for the hurricane:

"So long, Irene," said Yarrington.
