Progress Moves Along at the Barclays Center

Approaching the Atlantic Yards construction site from any direction, the Barclays Center area now dominates the view.

Despite this years weather delays, , and other setbacks, the arena is now ahead of schedule to open for the 2012-2013 basketball season.

Installation on the arena’s sfaçade has begun and work on the arena’s frame is nearly complete. Demolition and excavation still continues on the Long Island Railroad/Vanderbilt Yard side of the site. Last month, near the arena will go into affect in preparation for the arena’s opening season.

Every month, we'll take a look at the progress the work crews are making. As the Barclays Center and the rest of the development rise along neighborhood’s border, we'll take note as each beam is raised each wall is erected and each building demolished.
