Police Blotter: Housekeeper Steals Safe from 14th Street Home

Housekeeper Steals Safe

A crook stole a man’s safe from his 14th Street home containing $5,000, a designer briefcase and a platinum ring with diamonds on Dec. 27.

The 45-year-old victim told police he saw his housekeeper walking down the street with his safe after he was in his apartment, between Third and Fourth avenues, at around 11 p.m. The crook, a Hispanic male who is 20 years old, 5-foot-10, 140 lbs. with long red hair, got away with the man’s safe containing $5,000 in cash, a Louis Vuitton briefcase and a platinum ring with diamonds for a total of $8,530.

Taxi Cab Robbed for Cash

A thief snatched over $6,000 in cash, electronics, checks and bank cards from the front seat of a yellow taxi cab on Butler Street on Dec. 28.

The 36-year-old victim, who is the taxi driver, told police that he parked his yellow cab between Third and Fourth avenues at around 2:10 a.m. When he returned ten minutes later, he found that someone had stolen a black plastic bag from the cab’s front seat. The crook got away with $1,000 in cash, a GPS, credit and debit cards with a total of $4,500 on them, a check for $892 and $600 in keys. 

iPhone Snatch on Fourth Ave

A thief snatched a woman’s iPhone from her hands while she was walking on Warren Street on Dec. 29.

The 29-year-old victim told police that she was walking on Warren Street and came to the intersection of Fourth Avenue when the crook approached her at around 4:30 a.m. The crook, who is described as a black man about 5-foot-8 with braids, came up to her and stated, “Let go of your tag. I’m gonna f@#k you up,” stole her iPhone and ran. 

Burglar Breaks into Fifth Ave Restaurant

A burglar broke into a Fifth Avenue restaurant through the side window and stole $200 in cash and an iPod on Dec. 29.

The owner of Miriam, a Mediterranean restaurant at the corner of Prospect Place, told police that all doors and windows of restaurant were locked and everyone left at around 1:30 a.m. However, the crook was able to shake the window until the screw, which kept it locked, came loose. The burglar climbed through the window, into the kitchen and stole $200 and a black iPod Touch. The crook fled through the window.
