Park Slope or Yankeeville?

A new study shows that Slopers favor the Yankees over the Mets.

Slopers are Yankees fans—at least according to a new study by transit directions website HopStop.

The site dug into its data and analyzed the locations of all searches for directions to both Citi Field and Yankee Stadium since the start of the season—and found that things are looking pretty dismal for the Mets.

“We were surprised by how few Mets neighborhoods there were outside of Queens and Brooklyn, and how extreme the disparity was!” said Alexandra Dao, the Community Manager for HopStop.

According to the study results, Citi Field was out-searched on HopStop by Yankee Stadium by more than a 2-to-1 margin.

Citi Field was less popular in every borough of New York according to the study, including in Park Slope, which was rated a “Moderate Yankees Neighborhood.” The Slope was ranked the 16th most Yankee-loving neighborhood in Brooklyn; Gowanus was ranked sixth. North Riverdale in the Bronx had the most Yankees fans in the city, and Pomonk in Queens had the most Mets fans.

The results were calculated using a formula that diving the number of Yankee direction searches in a neighborhood by the number of home games so far this season, and then divided that number by the number of Mets searches divided by the number of home Mets games.

“The Yankees versus Mets is an ongoing debate in New York,” said Dao,
“So we thought it would be fun to look into our data and figure out where each borough and neighborhood's alliances lie.”
