Park Slope Armory Looking for Volunteers for Sandy Evacuees!

The armory on Eighth Avenue is serving Brooklyn and Queens evacuees and needs help for the overnight shift.

The city has set up over 70 shelters citywide for Zone A residents, all who had to leave behind their homes before Hurricane Sandy hit New York City on Monday.

The Park Slope Armory, on 15th St. and Eighth Ave., is one of the shelters in the neighborhood that has filled up quickly with at least 100 people. But in serving swaths of residents from lower Brooklyn and some parts of Queens, the shelter needs your help.

Volunteers are needed to help tonight, especially for overnight shifts. The shifts that could use the most help are from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m., 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. and 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.
