Noella Brew Bar Opens on Friday

The , Noella Brew Bar, was slated to open last Thursday, but due to construction the grand opening was delayed a week. 

But now come Friday, December 9, the shop owned by the former owner of the Seventh Avenue Ozzie’s location .

One of the unique aspects to Melissa Rapoport’s new venture is what she calls the “golden cup” of coffee, which is brewing technique that makes a single cup using the pour-over method.

She meticulously measures out the grinds on a digital scale, pours it in the glass cone which has a filter inside and sits on top of the cup. Then, she measures a precise amount of filtered water (which through her expeimentation gives the best taste) and pours it over the grinds slowly. As the water is poured over the coffee steeps and drips for three to four minutes.

The result is a personalized cup of joe that patrons, if patient enough, can watch being made from beginning to end. According to Rapoport the method makes the “best cup” every time.

All of her coffee is from Counter Culture and the beans come from small, sustainable plantations from all over the world.

Once Noella’s is up and running Rapoport said she will hold coffee workshops, like how to brew at home and have charity events in the back room.

One event she is looking forward to is a hairstyling night, where a stylist will come give blowouts and the proceeds will go to charity.

“I want this to be a hub for creating networks and for people to get to know their neighbors and community,” Rapoport said while giving a tour of her new digs.
