Luxe Treatment for VIPs at the Barclays Center
Renderings of interior spaces at the future home of the Brooklyn Nets revealed.
Big spenders will get red carpet treatment at the soon-to-open Barclays Center.
The Brooklyn-bound New Jersey Nets revealed renderings of the interior spaces of their future home on Tuesday, which will include four bars and lounges, three clubs, a restaurant, and a special "VIP" entrance for holders of suites and premium seats. The interior was designed by the New York-based firm SHop Architects.
The private entrance will be a "stylish setting" that includes its own concierge service, according to the team. The VIP suites will include 68 luxe "Loft Suites," each with 10 seats.
"The interior spaces of the Barclays Center will provide premium experiences that are reflective of a sophisticated and dynamic venue in the heart of Brooklyn," said Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark in a statement. "nothing has been spared in creating an inviting and spectacular environment to compliment the best events in sports and entertainment."
Approaching the arena, there will also be a public plaza with a cafe and seating. Among the bars and clubs will be a "Legends Lounge" with views of the bowl and "Beers of the World."
“SHop wanted the design of the interiors of the Barclays Center to be focused on bringing the energy of Broooklyn street life into the arena,” said Gregg Pasquarelli, one of the firm’s founders. “The design uses a simple yet tactile palette of industrial materials to create an urbane experience open to all.”
The arena is set to open for the 2012-2013 basketball season next September.

I understand that there will be no curb setbacks or driveways to accommodate the limousines and the taxis that VIPs will use to arrive and depart from the arena. As a result, their arrivals and departures will block traffic on Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues. But that shouldn't bother anyone stuck in traffic when their are games and events at the arena. After all, its a small price to pay to allow Ratner and his fellow business executives and millionaires to enjoy their luxurious VIP accommodations at this arena that our taxes helped subsidize.
