Brooklyn Botanic Garden Hosts 'Light in Winter'
Where/When: Brooklyn Botanic Garden, 1000 Washington Ave, Sunday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m.
Why Go: On the first Sunday of each month, BBG invites visitors to invigorate themselves in the Garden with a host of daytime activities for all ages as part of its Light in Winter series. Several activities change slightly from month to month in sync with the progression of the natural landscape and the plants and animals that inhabit it throughout the course of the season.

Where/When: The Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture, 53 Prospect Park W, Sunday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m.
Why Go: Kelli Dunham, co-founder the community storytelling series of Queer Memoir, is committed to helping a diverse group of LGBT and non-gender conforming individuals share their stories publicly. “Every month we host well-known LGBT writers and performers, and every month we host storytellers who have never been on a stage in their life,” Dunham says. Dunham is a standup comic, ex-nun, and the author of five books, including the upcoming Freak of Nurture, and three best-selling comedy CDs. She will speak about storytelling as a spiritual act, and as a means of community building.

Vspot Comedy Show
Where/When: The V Spot, 156 5th Ave, Sunday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m.
Why Go: Come laugh with The V Spot’s own Alex Carabano, who hosts this free monthly comedy show in the restaurant. The comedy show features veteran comedians along with some of the best up and coming acts on the NYC comedy scene.
