Construction in and around the Barclays Center arena has still been keeping neighbors up all night, says the Daily News.

The News says that residents around Fifth Avenue and Dean Street in Park Slope have heard Con Ed workers installing an electrical conduit at the arena until as late as 6 a.m., and about an hour later, construction on the arena itself begins.

A Con Ed spokesperson told the News that the installation of the arena’s electrical conduit must be done at night due to traffic concerns, adding that eight more days of work are ahead.

At the other side of the project site, in Prospect Heights, the state recently give Forest City Ratner permission to work until 3 a.m., with bright flood lights on, in an effort to rebuild the Carlton Avenue Bridge before the area opens, says the article.

FCR’s spokesman Joe Deplasco said that the late-night work is “required to complete the rail yard work and north half of the bridge.”

In October, Patch rounded up some complaints about the construction noise at the Barclays Center, as the arena is scheduled to open in September 2012, and the pace of work must be picked up in order to finish on time.

“They got started late, and now they’re rushing,” Peter Krashes of the Dean Street Block Association told the News. “This is a circumstance they created for themselves. They shouldn’t be let off the hook.”
